Company History

CertifiedMail is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and provides secure email capabilities to hundreds of organizations and more than one million email users around the world in several languages.

Its founders,  Mahesh Muchhala and Bob Janacek, have focused on the data security software market since 1989 and founded their first security software company, Safetynet, in 1991. Safetynet provided security solutions to the Department of Defense - including protecting the onboard computer networks used by the nation's nuclear submarine fleet - and subsequently for commercial and government organizations.

The idea for CertifiedMail began in 1995, when Safetynet used Internet-based distribution to deliver software to its customers.  They immediately became aware, however, of the significant drawbacks inherent in delivering code securely over the open Internet. Over the next three years, the company developed proprietary technology to track the secure delivery of its software products, leading to the 1998 launch of the first CertifiedMail Managed Service. CertifiedMail was incorporated as a standalone company in 1999.

CertifiedMail continues its laser focus on enhancing its core encrypted messaging platform, extending its

• functionality with unified encrypted email, large file and forms
• packaging options with a Managed Security Service, and in-house software, appliance and enterprise server offerings
• integration possibilities with a range of connectors ranging from portal single sign-on to a complete Web Service API
• marketplace to ISPs with features such as multi-tenant support and integrated subscriber management with real-time credit card processing
