Press ReleaseConsumer Direct Secure Post Office offers two-way confidential communications Morristown, New Jersey, June 1, 2005 – CertifiedMail, a leading provider of secure messaging solutions, is pleased to announce that its Secure Post Office project for the UK Department of Trade & Industry's Consumer Direct advice website is now live and powering the site's consumer complaint service. Consumer Direct, launched in summer 2004, is a national phone and online service that works in partnership with local government, Trading Standards and other advice agencies to provide comprehensive information and advice to consumers before and after purchasing goods or services. A key part of the online service is the ability for consumers to post complaints about businesses or products on the website and have that information securely directed to the appropriate department or agency. CertifiedMail became involved with Consumer Direct after being contacted by specialist IT consultancy Detica (LSE:DCA), who are managing the implementation and roll out of the project. "We were attracted by the apparent power and simplicity of their solution," says Anthony Golledge, a consultant with Detica and project technical architect. "CertifiedMail were prepared to invest in understanding our requirements and suggesting more workable alternatives, many of which we eventually adopted." CertfiedMail maintains a common codebase across all applications in its Secure Email System, which delivers welcome ease of maintenance for overtaxed IT departments. And because the system conforms to Microsoft's .NET and Web services standards, it's equally easy to customize the system for seamless integration into existing environments. For the Consumer Direct project, CertifiedMail added four functional elements to the Secure Email System:
"We were able to offer the DTI a secure, flexible environment, which tightly integrated with what they already had rather than rebuilding their infrastructure from scratch," says CertifiedMail CTO Bob Janacek. "They were able to maintain their existing workflow and processes, which minimized the amount of staff training required to use the Secure Post Office." About Consumer Direct Consumer Direct is a consumer advice service supported by the UK Government Department of Trade and Industry. The goal of the service is to provide impartial advice to help consumers sort out problems and disagreements they may be having with suppliers of goods or services. From overcharging to faulty goods, from poor workmanship to reporting dishonest traders and scams, advisers are ready to offer solutions for individual problems. Consumer Direct offers help and advice to every single consumer in Great Britain (regardless of age, gender, social background or ethnic group) who is buying or has bought goods or services. The advice and information is free and consumers can use the service as many times as they need. For more information, visit www.consumerdirect.gov.uk. About CertifiedMail Media Contact: |
